Things to do in Tenerife with kids
Things to do in Tenerife for kids is a topic that comes to mind for parents right after booking a vacation. We all know that a happy child means a happy parent. Vacations with children can sometimes be quite a challenge, but it’s not a puzzle when you choose an interesting destination. How can you ensure that the holidays are exciting for the kids while allowing the parents to fully enjoy them? We suggest going on a vacation to the thrilling and sunny island of Tenerife, where we guarantee a fantastic time for your children and for you as well! Tenerife is one of the Canary Islands located in the Atlantic Ocean.
Its main advantage is the weather, which remains beautiful and sunny all year round in this part of the equator. The diversity of landscapes is also noteworthy. Tenerife is made up of “green mountain masses,” colossal cliffs, and turquoise waters in the ocean. These landscapes stimulate the imagination and the minds of children. By exploring the world, they become more open and eager to discover. Undoubtedly, there is no better way for a child to develop than through learning through play.

Theme Parks

We’re taking a closer look at amusement parks, which offer coeducational development for children through learning and play. Stimulating the sense of sight, hearing, and even smell, which piques the child’s interest and captures their complete attention in a park paradise! Let’s proceed to introduce you to each of them.
Water Park in Tenerife – Siam Park
The best park in the Canary Islands and the most magnificent park in Europe. It is located in the south of Tenerife, right next to the well-known tourist resort of Las Americas. Siam Park is designed in a Thai style, so it is full of lush vegetation and interesting architectural elements such as sculptures, cottages, and bridges. The park, with its enormous area, is divided into zones for young children, with slides for older children measuring 1.10 m, 1.25 m, or 1.4 m, as well as a relaxation area with sun loungers and a beach. The park also houses several restaurants and food/ice cream stalls.
Additionally, round-trip paid transportation to Siam Park is available from Puerto de La Cruz (approximately 100km away), where the largest number of hotels and tourist apartments in the north of Tenerife are located.

Zoo Park in Tenerife – Loro Parque
Loro Parque – along with the previously described Siam Park – is a world-class park. Both Siam Park and Loro Parque are owned by the same owner. Loro Parque is a zoological park. It enjoys immense popularity primarily due to its innovation, rare animal species, and high aesthetics. Richly designed and abundant with vegetation, the park is located on a large area in the northern part of the island. Upon entry, you will receive a map and a schedule of shows. Several spectacular shows featuring orcas, dolphins, sea lions, and birds take place multiple times throughout the day.
For Loro Parque, we also provide paid round-trip transportation from the southern zone of Tenerife, from Los Gigantes to Golf del Sur, including stops at Callao Salvaje, Playa Paraiso, Costa Adeje, Las Americas, and Los Cristianos.

Promotional ticket to Siam Park and Loro Parque – Twin Ticket
The Twin Ticket package includes Loro Park and Siam Park. By purchasing the Twin Ticket, you pay less than if you were to book the two parks separately. An additional benefit is the lower price for Siam Park for children aged 3, 4, and 5, as when purchasing tickets separately for Siam Park, you would need to pay for children over 3 years old, while for Loro Parque, the child payment starts from the age of 6. By purchasing the Twin Ticket, the child fee for both parks starts from the age of 6.

Water Park in Tenerife – Aqualand
Aqualand – the second water park on the south of Tenerife, following Siam Park. However, in comparison to its predecessor, it is not as grand. It is aimed at families with young children (above 1.25m, we recommend Siam Park). The water slides in Aqualand are generally of low difficulty level. In the park, there is an area known as the ‘dolphinarium’ where dolphin shows take place. For an additional fee, visitors can touch the dolphins or take a photo with them in the pool.

Zoo Park in Tenerife – Jungle Park
Jungle Park – a zoological and botanical park located in the south of Tenerife. On a vast jungle-covered area, there are approximately 500 species of animals. The park can be enjoyed by strolling along paths, tunnels, hanging bridges, and caves, which is an incredible delight for children. Birds of prey are the main attraction of the park, but there are also sea lions, whose performance is one of the main shows in the park.

Adventure Park in Tenerife – Forestal Park
Forestal Park – an adventure park located in the northern part of Tenerife. You can find it by heading up from Santa Cruz. As the name suggests, the park is situated in a forest. Amongst tall pine trees, ropes are installed at various heights, along with trails of different difficulty levels. The safety system has been designed logically and securely. Longer and more challenging trails are available depending on age and height, with most accessible from around 10 years old. For younger children, starting from 6 years old and a minimum height of 1.10m, easier trails are prepared. It’s an incredible challenge and joy for your little ones.

Whale watching tours

Dolphin and Whale Watching Catamaran Cruises
Children love boats, swimming, and animals, making cruises a fantastic attraction for them. Cruises provide a calm and relaxing experience with the aim of seeing marine mammals in their natural habitat.
The most stable boat that experiences the least rocking is a catamaran. It is also the lowest boat in relation to the ocean’s surface. This allows for a closer connection with nature and a more enjoyable observation of the mammals. Catamaran cruises are available in two time frames: a 3-hour journey into the ocean to encounter marine mammals. And a 4.5-hour cruise that also sails along the Los Gigantes cliffs.
If your little ones have never been on a cruise before and tend to experience motion sickness, we recommend opting for the shorter cruise as their first water excursion. Once you’re confident that they can handle boat trips well, you can choose the almost 5-hour expedition to the majestic cliffs. Both cruises include time for swimming in the water, which is one of the favorite moments for children. Not to mention the highlight of observing the mammals. Unlimited drinks are provided on the cruises, and the shorter cruise also includes a sandwich, while the longer one includes lunch, such as paella with salad.
Dolphin and Whale Watching Cruise on a Viking Ship
Step back in time with your children to the era when Vikings ruled the oceans, aboard an almost identical replica of a Viking ship, complete with authentic decor and fantastic entertainment. This magnificent vessel will set sail in search of dolphins and whales inhabiting these waters.
As you sail on the ship, you’ll admire stunning landscapes, including the coastline, mountains, the El Teide volcano, and the neighboring tropical island of La Gomera. During the cruise, the crew will take care of your appetites by serving delicious snacks and drinks. You can choose from tasty meatballs, potatoes, salad, bread, fruits, and cold beverages.
We’ll let the children experience the life of warriors by painting their faces with special face painting paints. Then, the show will begin with brave Viking battles and numerous games and activities. Through the entertainment, your child will learn how to mint coins, search for treasures, and even wield a sword! It’s a true adventure where your child’s imagination will flourish. Touching upon history and legends, and most importantly, they’ll feel a tremendous sense of satisfaction by immersing themselves in the role.
Sunshine, captivating entertainment, fantastic costumes, and games for children—what more could you ask for? How about diving into the ocean! This exhilarating experience is also included in the Viking cruise. It’s one of the favorite parts of the journey for both children and adults alike! Overcoming fears, learning to interact with water and swim, these are highly developmental skills for children!

Guaranteed Encounter with Marine Mammals
As we collaborate with a highly experienced crew in search of marine mammals and we are confident in their presence during the cruise, we guarantee a sighting. This means that we provide a guarantee to see at least one species, either whales or dolphins, or you will receive a refund or a complimentary additional cruise.

Other attractions for children

Submarine Safari
It’s an incredible attraction for you and your children! The submarine is a unique experience that allows you to observe the underwater world at a depth of 30 meters. Cruising along the azure coast of Tenerife near Golf del Sur and Amarilla Golf. From the spacious, air-conditioned cabin, you will see numerous species of marine life that inhabit the depths of the ocean. A professional diver will swim alongside the ship, feeding the fish, giving you a close-up view. On board, there will be a guide who will provide you with detailed information about everything! At the end, you will receive certificates that your kids can proudly show off after returning from vacation!

Parasailing – Parascending
Parasailing, also known as parascending, is an attraction for children who are not afraid of heights. In fact, children as young as 18 months can participate in parasailing. Let your children experience the sensation of being a bird in this thrilling and joyful activity. You will soar above the azure coast of Costa Adeje from a significant height, guaranteed fun!

Diving
Diving with a scuba tank, for beginners, also known as a ‘sea baptism,’ begins with entering the ocean from the beach. By submerging and feeling the ground beneath their feet, children feel more comfortable compared to jumping directly into the water. Of course, it’s worth having one of the parents dive alongside the child for reassurance, especially if it’s their first time. Children can start diving depending on their height and build, but the general age limit is around 8-10 years old. Diving tremendously shapes a child’s personality. It breaks through boundaries of fear and anxieties, making it a truly developmental and mind-opening experience. Children learn to handle equipment, regulate their breathing, and explore the underwater world. It’s definitely an activity for brave children. However, there’s nothing to fear as we will create a comfortable environment and support these little ones with any hesitations they may have!

Paragliding
Paragliding is another thrilling attraction for brave children. However, we know that most of them actually love amusement parks, roller coasters, and all the attractions where they go up. Please note that unlike adults, children don’t experience as much fear of heights. Parents can allow children as young as 5 years old to enjoy this experience, depending on the child’s build and height. Paragliding, despite the height, is not as extreme as it may seem. The flight speed is optimal, and it provides a truly relaxing experience. We only advise against it for individuals who have a significant fear of heights, as the mere thought of it can cause muscle numbness!
